Heather Awad, M.D. is a board certified Family Physician who devotes her professional time to Medical Acupuncture and teaching people how to eat healthy food to feel better. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians as well as the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.  After graduating from Carleton College, she earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1996.  Dr. Awad did her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, St. Margaret Hospital.  She practiced Family Medicine until she became interested in acupuncture.  She was accepted into, and graduated from the Helms Medical Institute, Medical Acupuncture Course.  This is considered the premier acupuncture course for physicians.

Dr. Awad loves to give talks about acupuncture and healthy eating.   She is a fiction writer, but can sometimes be convinced to write a medical non-fiction article.  Call her to book a talk or article.

In her earlier years, Dr. Awad grew up in Michigan, and came to Minnesota to attend college. She met her husband in Minnesota, and they have four daughters.  In her free time, Dr. Awad enjoys listening to her kids play violin, double bass, and guitar; traveling, writing, yoga, and visiting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
